I think there is an unfair stigma that Super 8 is only used as old home movie footage, like the opening to The Wonder Years. But it can be used for so much more than that, and it doesn’t have to be handheld footage with people waving at the camera. [...] For an independent filmmaker who wants to try to shoot something on film, Super 8 is a great way to test it out. It’s definitely not the cheapest option (especially if you already own a digital camera) but if you can find a way to get the money it might just add that little touch of something special to your project that makes it stand out amongst the onslaught of digital films out there today.
