Suter-16, das etwas andere Filmformat...
jean-louis antwortete auf Guest_Rudolf 51's Thema in Schmalfilm
I had thought of Olaf's version also myself. Nice idea but in itself but as regards the Bolex camera, it would make it much more difficult to convert. The center of the perforation is too far from the film edge, making transport modification more complicated. Also, the optical center is too far to the opposite side, again complicating the modification. Cheers, Jean-Louis -
This is the version of the Catozzo that gives you a wrap-around splice, like the super8 version It is designed to leave the area of the magnetic stripe uncovered. Approximately 3mm. This is normal. Jean-Louis

This is not a new problem with Cinevia DS8. Ignacio Benedeti had warned me about occasional imprecise cutting many months ago. Jean-Louis -
I think the membrane is held in place by pressure only under two little pieces of cork. There is a picture here: http://tornemi.fr.yuku.com/reply/41710#.UY_MeCt4Z_8 Jean-Louis

Sorry, I do not have any information about the dates of manufacture according to serial number for lenses. Jean-Louis -

AR simply means the lens is coated (Anti-reflets). Same for C (coated). DV is Direct Vision, another way of saying reflex viewing. Jean-Louis -
No. C-200 is only super8 and single-8 cartridges. C-300 can take above plus double 8 7.5m spool \ double super 8 30m spool Cheers, Jean-Louis

In the old days, most labs gave them away for free, as many as you want. JL

"Analogisieren" also zurück von DVD auf Super-8 (zweite Version)

The enormous size of the perforation with respect to the picture area would not make it immediately attractive as a format. But if 35mm stock can be found so cheap and an economical way can be found to perform accurate slitting, then it has some potential. Jean-Louis -

The standard space between edge of film and perforation is 0.91mm in 16mm / R8 and only 0.51mm in S8. Cheers, Jean-Louis -

There are modified projectors for Ultrapan8 v.2.8: most common is modified Specto projector. There is also a very special version LW Photo analytical projector based on Kodak Pageant which has exact UP8 specifications. And of course, the grand-daddy, even more rare: the Emel Panascope projector (if you can find one!) Unfortunately, for UP8 v.3.1 (DS8), there is no projector as of yet. Cheers, Jean-Louis -

I emailed Mr. Schwind on January 22, 2013 to inquire about the E100D DS8. His answer: "I have maybe one or two 100 ft. rolls left." They are likely gone now. Cheers, JL -
The H8 is 34 sec at 24 fps. JL

No, DV is the same as RX. I think it means "Direct Vision". AR is simply "anti-reflets", i.e. coated lenses. C probably means Coated also. Cheers, Jean-Louis
-
That depend on what is the original camera. If you start with a H8, it remains the same. If you start with a H16RX, you have roughly double the time. At 24fps = a running time of 56 seconds with perhaps slight slowing down in the last ten seconds. Jean-Louis

It is difficult to remove without damaging the cover. Try with some methanol. 6x AA are too big to fit. AAA is OK. Good luck. Cheers, Jean-Louis

The lenses have the same thread depth. There is only one exception: some very old Switar 25mm f/1.4, that has what is called deep mount. it's the turret openings that are deeper on the non-reflex H16. Cheers, Jean-Louis
-
You need a projector with sprocket drive. The T192 has none. Cheers, Jean-Louis

Please excuse my English! To all those interested in Bolex DS8 cameras. Price starts at $ 600 for basic DS8 camera with 3-lens turret and 10x viewfinder (body only). This version works best with Kern H8RX lenses. For special turret modification to allow use of H16RX and other 16mm lenses in addition to H8RX lenses, add $150. For permanent change to H16RX front allowing H16RX and other 16mm lenses to be used. Add $200. With this modification, H8RX lenses can no longer be used. I can also perform modification on your existing equipment on request. Thank you. Jean-Louis

Thank you Martin. Yes, I know the google translator is sometimes frustrating but I am afraid to be booted off the forum if I write in anything other than the language of Goethe! Cheers, Jean-Louis
