U2 3-D (Jan. 25, 2008) - Performances from seven of U2's shows on the Latin America Vertigo Tour in early 2006 converted into 3-D.

 

Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert 3-D (Feb. 1-7, 2008) Advance tickets for a one-week 3-D film engagement of Walt Disney Pictures' Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert went on sale starting on December 1. The film, which is said to capture the fun and excitement of the current sold-out 54-city tour, will be shown in state-of-the-art Disney Digital 3-D and will play in theatres across the country for a special one week engagement between February 1 - 7, 2008. The tour was created and produced by Kenny Ortega, who also directed both High School Musical movies.

 

Fly Me to the Moon (Feb. 15, 2008) - A computer animated tale of three young houseflies that stow away aboard the Apollo 11 flight to the moon.

 

Journey 3-D (July 11, 2008) - Visual effects supervisor turned director Eric Brevig's take on the classic Jules Verne novel, Journey to the Center of the Earth, starring Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutcherson.

 

Coraline (Fall 2008) - Written and directed by Henry Selick of Nightmare Before Christmas; stop-animated story about a girl who discovers a bricked-up wall behind a door in her home that leads to another world.

 

The Dark Country (Unconfirmed 2008) - A sci-fi noir thriller directed by Thomas Jane based on a forthcoming graphic novel that's being shot entirely in 3-D.

 

Final Destination 4 (Unconfirmed 2008) - Final Destination 2 director David R. Ellis returns to the franchise for another sequel that will be in 3-D.

 

Disney's Bolt poster artBolt (Nov. 26, 2008) Formerly titled American Dog, from Disney. John Travolta and Susie Essman lead the voice cast of Bolt, the story of a TV-star dog named Bolt (Travolta) who is accidentally shipped from his Hollywood soundstage to New York, where he begins a cross-country journey through the real world. Chris Williams directs.

 

2009

Monsters vs. Aliens (March 27, 2009) - A DreamWorks reinvention of the classic ’50s monster movie; directed by Rob Letterman (Shark Tale).

 

James Cameron's Avatar (May 22, 2009) - A band of humans are pitted in a battle against a distant planet's indigenous population. Revolutionary filmmaking techniques and a $190 million budget.

 

Robert Zemeckis’ Christmas Carol (Nov. 6, 2009) - Zemeckis continues in the same fashion as Polar Express and Beowulf in this classic retelling that will star Jim Carrey as Scrooge.

 

How to Train Your Dragon (Nov. 20, 2009) - Based on the 2003 children's novel by British author Cressida Cowell, this is about the adventures of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, the teenage son of a Viking chieftain who must capture a dragon for a rite of passage.

 

Crood Awakening (Unconfirmed 2009) - A comedy set in the stone age directed by Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch).

 

Tintin (Unconfirmed 2009) - The adventures of the popular Belgian comic strip hero Tintin and his faithful dog Snowy come to life through Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg.

 

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland (Unconfirmed 2009) - Based on the Lewis Carroll classic with a screenplay by Linda Woolverton (The Lion King); will combine both motion capture technology and live action.

 

2010

Shrek Goes Fourth (May 21, 2010) - The further adventures of the giant green ogre, Shrek, living in the land of Far, Far Away; will discover how Shrek arrived in his swamp.

 

Master Mind (Fall 2010) - A satirical take on superhero movies, in which a notorious villain loses his "oomph" after he accidentally kills his nemesis.

 

Puss in Boots as seen in Shrek 2.Puss in Boots: The Story of an Ogre Killer (Unconfirmed 2009) - A Shrek spin-off starring the sword fighting cat voiced by Antonio Banderas.

Tim Burton's Frankenweenie - A feature length remake of Burton's 1984 short film that is a parody of the 1931 Frankenstein movie. The story is about a pet dog brought back to life by his loyal owner.

 

James Cameron's Battle Angel - James Cameron is directing and producing Battle Angel, a live-action adaption of the first three volumes of the manga series. Cameron has plans to make a trilogy if the first film is successful. Cameron's adaptation of the graphic novel about a female cyborg named Alita who is rescued from the scrapheap by a scientist, who becomes her surrogate father. Alita will be a CG character performed by an actress. Filming will be made with the new digital 3-D system Cameron has developed for Avatar, and will also include new devices for interacting between actors, director and the digital characters and environments, such as a real time virtual camera and virtual retinal display technology (VRD).

 

Star Wars 3-D - George Lucas has announced plans to remaster all of the Star Wars films in 3-D. When this might actually happen is anyones guess.

 

Horroween from Stereo Vision Entertainment Inc. and Adirondack International Pictures Inc.

 

Godzilla: 3-D to the Max - Advanced Audiovisual Productions (Announced in 2004 - May be a dead project.)

 

The Hobbit - Director Peter Jackson mines more of J.R.R. Tolkein's world for the big screen. Rumor is he will also convert The Lord of the Rings films to 3-D for re-release.

Von der überarbeiteten Star Wars 3D konnte ich schon 5 minuten sehen (Episode 4, die Introsequenz bis tatooine). Kommt erstaunlich "real" rüber. Ist allerdings arbeitsintensiv², 2D zu 3D zu machen. Handarbeit pur.

cleveres marketing und limitierung ausschließlich auf 3-D einsätze und nur eine woche spielzeit in nicht mehr als 680 3-D kinos in usa haben den o.a. film im USA box-office von 0 auf platz 1 geschossen.

Das ergebniss wird der digitalen und 3-D umrüstung in USA zweifellos auftrieb geben ...

 

auch "U2-3D" hat seit seinem start letzte woche in ca. 60 IMAX häusern schon US$ 2 Mio zusammen. der Film wird am 15.2. in USA in wide release gehen.

Vorgestern gestartet und schon US$ 22 mio bei einem schnitt von ca. 2200 bes. pro theater in 2 tagen ... rekordverdächtig.

Sobald ein Massenstart einsetzt, ist die Vorsprung passé. Und Massenstarts sind geplant, auch im Home Cinema.

 

Warum aber ist das alles absolut "rekordverdächtig"?

Sicher keine schlechten Zahlen, aber 1100 Besucher für einen grossen Saal pro Tag sind weniger als die Anfangsmonate unseres (mittlerweile geschlossenen!) Berliner IMAX-Discovery Kinos - mit oder ohne 3-D. Das sind bei vier Vorstellungen vielleicht 2 sehr gut besuchte und evt. 1 ausverkaufte Vorstellung. Jedenfalls würde ich nicht von "Rekorden" mehr sprechen.

 

Interessant auch dies: Katzenberg und Co sind eben so vehement im DVD-Vertrieb ihrer 3-D-Filme tätig, die schon wenige Monate nach Kinostart auf den Markt geworfen werden.

Wer so einem Marketing-Fuchs kürzlich noch in München jedes Wörtchen glaubte (Motto "Wer nicht umrüstet, bleibt auf der Strecke!" oder: "Die größte Chance in der Geschichte") sollte mal ganz kalt und nüchtern betrachten, wie vehement dieser Mann auf den DVD-Markt setzt.

 

Zwar: er hat sicherlich nichts gegen Kino. Er freut sich sogar über zusätzliche Erlöse durch die derzeitige 3-D-Mode. Keinesfalls aber würde er seine DVD-Starts deswegen aufschieben oder den Kinos eine exklusive Plattform auf Jahre hinaus sichern wollen. Eben so wenig eine exklusive Technologie - was bereits im Fachmagazin "Filmecho" einem der Journalisten kürzlich aufstiess.

 

Fazit: äusserte Vorsicht bei der derzeitigen 3-D-Welle. Diese Technologie ermüdet schnell. Und auch die genannten Filmtitel klingen nicht so, als wenn der Rest der Welt auf sie gewartet hätte. Diejenigen Filme, die interessant klingen, kann man an einer Hand abzählen!

 

Konkrete Zahlen: für 2010 sind 12 Filme in 3-D angekündigt.

Vielleicht laufen sie auch wieder in 35mm 3-D, was man nie ausschliessen sollte. Aber weniger als 12 Filme hier und jetzt anno 2008 rechnen sich für anvisierte Umrüstungen in keiner Weise.

Based on the whammo turnout, the Mouse House announced Sunday it is extending the film’s exclusive, one-week run.

 

“Hannah Montana” smashed several records, including nabbing the highest opening for a film playing on fewer than 1,000 screens after 20th Century Fox's “Borat,” which opened at $26.4 million from 837 locations in fall 2006. Disney couldn't have gone wider than it did due to the limited number of digital 3-D screens.

 

Previous record-holder for best Super Bowl opening was “When a Stranger Calls,” which grossed $21.6 million. “Titanic” previously held the record for best Super Bowl weekend gross at $25.2 million."

PS: übrigens wurde soeben das wochenendergebniss (fr-so) von HANNAH MONTANA von 28 Mio auf 31,1 Mio nach oben korrigiert.

Vielleicht mögen Sie ja eine Umfrage starten, wieviele deutsche Betreiber für das 1. Quartal 2008 den Umbau auf 3-D-digital beschlossen haben und ein rosiges Kinojahr 2008 prognostizieren?

Somit zeigt sich, inwiefern Europa zu den USA deckungsgleich ist.

 

Randbemerkung: auf der Berlinale 2008 - Brennpunkt des Weltfilmschaffens - läuft (leider?) kein einziger 3-D- Film: unter bald tausend Titeln. Ironischerweise aber eine Triple-Projektion)

Mich nervt nur Deine Bemerkung.

Es ist, wenn mich meine Wahrnehmung nicht täuscht, noch immer eine sachliche Diskussion.

Aber auch wenn es ein Streit wäre, wäre so eine Aussage in Richtung "Hört auf zu streiten" immer daneben.

Schließlich ist es ja kein Boxkampf oder so, wo zwei sich verabreden. Einer zwingt dem anderen den Streit auf und wenn dann jemand Ursache und Wirkung ignoriert, versteht er es bestens, Täter und Opfer auf eine Stufe zu stellen.

Ich "liebe" diejenigen, die es verstehen, denjenigen, der den Streit nicht verursachte, so richtig zu demütigen und demjenigen, der den Streit aufbrachte, so richtig in die Hände zu spielen.

Hab jetzt gehört das bei Dolby die ganze Maschine erst mal zerlegt wird, dann was eingebaut wird usw.

 

Wenn man das bei jedem neuen Film machen muß, also von 2D auf 3D ist es aber umständlich...

 

War ja in den 50ern einfach, einfach Brille aufsetzen und los gings...

Also mit Abstand marktfuehrend ist readD, da kommt einfach ein Vorsatz vor den Projektor, der dann zugeschaltet wird. Ist polfilter-basierend.

Ist nach Installation nur ein Knopfdruck. Also 1700h-1920h 2D, 1930h-2300h 3D ect ist bequemst moeglich.

Ja - geht ja auch heute noch.

Der Unterschied zwischen 35mm Anaglyphenbildund DCI 3D ist allerdings wie mono-mittelwelle mit stoerungen zu perfekten surroundsound.

Die sind UNSTERBLICH, die sind KULT :) Ich glaube "Creature from the black lagoon" usw werde ich mir noch in 30 Jahren anschauen - ich sehs schon kommen, das kriegt noch ne 1a DCI restauration :)

die noch existierenden 35mm + 16mm 3D anaglyphen Kopien (mitte der 70er jahre hergestellt, 2004 noch einmal eingesetzt) sind leider nicht mehr spielbar, da die rot/grünen farben gefadet sind und daher die teilbildertrennung nicht mehr anständig funktioniert.

 

Eine DCI-restaurierung des filmes wäre wünschenswert ...

 

... der John Wayne 3D film MAN NANNTE MICH HONDO wurde auf DCI 3-D restauriert und letztes jahr in Cannes gezeigt, leider in deutschland (noch) nicht verfügbar.

Ich finde sowieso das mal wieder auch Klassiker in die Kino gebracht werden sollten. Und creature wäre der hammer!!!!

 

Kenne noch Zeiten (da hab ich fast noch in die Hose gemacht) in der Ben Hur wochenlang lief, mit großer Pause. Das war der ultimative Hammer. Gabs immer Ostern oder Weihnachten.

 

Weiß nicht warum sowas heute nicht mehr möglich ist. Alles nur schnell schnell und nichts mehr von dauer.

 

Die wenigsten Filme tauchen doch später noch irgentwo auf. So wären DCI Retroklassiker ein echtes Highlight. Z.B. Jaws endlich mal wider in mega Quali.

 

Die letzte 35er die ich gesehen habe war ziemlich zerfläddert, dachte das wäre eine 16er gewesen, die der asta bei atlas ausgeliehen hätte. :D :D
